Using an electro-hydraulic pilot control system offers the following advantages:
1. In-cab operation eliminates the need to exit the vehicle
The pilot control joystick is located inside the tractor cab, allowing the operator to perform all functions-log grabbing, lifting, rotating, extending/retracting, and grapple opening/closing-while remaining seated. Compared to external mechanical cable-operated valves (which require standing outside the vehicle), this significantly boosts operational efficiency and improves the working experience in rainy or cold weather; it is a standard, essential requirement for forestry operations in Europe.
2.Low operating effort reduces fatigue during prolonged use
Electro-hydraulic pilot controls rely on low-pressure hydraulic fluid to transmit signals, requiring minimal force to operate the joystick. In contrast, traditional mechanical valves using rigid linkages or cables involve high resistance, causing operator fatigue during all-day log-handling tasks.
3. Stepless speed control and smooth operation
When paired with proportional valves, the pilot signal is continuously adjustable, allowing for precise control over the speed of boom lifting, extension/retraction, and rotation. Log-grabbing movements are gentle rather than abrupt, minimizing impact loads on the boom, preventing log slippage, and protecting both the high-strength (750 MPa) steel boom structure and the hydraulic seals.
