Components of A Truck Mounted Crane
Crane Boom and Telescoping System
If you are familiar with boom trucks, the mechanism of crane booms is nearly the same. Basically, it is the ‘long arm’ of the crane with a pair of six segments. It is the most prevalent component of all crane models.
Crane Luffing Mechanism of the Crane
When an operator hoists the jib of the crane vertically, the resulting mechanism is known as luffing. The jib is powered by a hydraulic or cable mechanism. The boom is used to attain the desired angle by driving the luffing cylinder. The luffing mechanism allows for a constant height of the hook during operation, while the telescoping system enables the operator to adjust the working range.
Slewing Mechanism and Slewing Support
The components involved in these mechanisms are the slewing reducer and hydraulic motor. Their main function is to facilitate the continuous rotation of the slewing table. The slewing is supported by inner and outer rings made of sturdy steel balls located at the center.

This device basically transfers the truck engine's power to other components like the extractor. The power initially passes through the clutch to the extractor, which then transmits the power to the oil pump through a connecting shaft. The hydraulic oil from the oil pump acts as a driver of the hydraulic actuators.
