How Do You Load An ATV On A Trailer?

Jun 07, 2024 Leave a message

  • Position The Towing Vehicle: Make sure it is on a level area and the parking brake is on.

  • Position the Trailer: Ensure the trailer is securely attached to the tow vehicle and the trailer itself is on a level surface.

  • Use Ramps: Position ramps securely against the trailer (if the trailer is not equipped with ramps already. Otherwise, drop the trailer ramp and make sure it is touching the ground and centered (if possible).

  • Drive or Push ATV Up the Ramp: If driving the ATV onto the trailer, do so slowly and steadily. If pushing, ensure you have enough help to control the ATV's weight. Once you hit that ramp, the weight will feel much heavier.

  • Secure the ATV: Once the ATV is on the trailer, use tie-down straps to secure it in place, focusing on the front and rear secure points. Check that the ATV is stable and the straps are tight.

  • Final Check: If you are only loading 1 ATV, make sure over 50% of the weight is on the front ½ of the trailer. If you are loading more than 1, distribute the weight of the ATVs evenly.
